We purchased our barefoot spa for the upgraded ozone feature. We were told we wouldn’t have to put many chemicals in the spa, and with that, I was skeptical. While it did take some getting used to, overall, I love this system! The water stays clear and balanced, and I don’t have to really do much. All I do is clean the filter off now and then. I also put a small amount of shock in the system after we get out, but not every time, only after heavy use. That is all, and that is amazing! It’s amazing because by the time we get back to the hot tub when we’re ready to use it again, the chlorine is gone! This is important because my wife has sensitive skin, and her dermatologist said no more chlorine. Thought we were never going to own a hot tub again, but thanks to this ozone system, we are happy hot tub users once again. I highly recommend the Barefoot spas ozone system to anyone with skin reactions of any kind to chlorine or Bromide.

Hi Chris. My name is Chris 🙂
So, the barefoot spas ozonator really works like that? I’ve heard mixed reviews, but I can’t decipher what information is dependable online. How much chlorine do you put in the spa on a weekly basis for example. Thank you so much for your help -Chris
I heard if you have a barefoot spas ozonator, you shouldn’t have to put much chemicals in there at all. You think that’s true?
We put a VERY small amount of chlorine in ours. Im talking once a week a few grams of granules. The trick is to put it in there when you get out. The chlorine burns off by the time we’re ready to use it again. It’s such a small amount that her skin doesn’t react at all to it.
how much is a “very small amount”? So it’s 3 grams a week you put in? I need to know this, and I can’t get a straight answer out of anybody. You are a huge help Chris. Thank you!
We have the new barefoot spas ozonator system in our hot tub. I don’t know if its the “latest”, but it works really well. We bought it last year. We don’t put any chemicals in ours… not even a little bit.
??? You don’t put ANY chemicals in yours? How often do you use it? You’re saying the barefoot spas oznoator handles EVERYTHING???
Yes, I only put about three grams in at a time. Its not a lot at all. I’m not even convinced that is really necessary, but my wife insists I do it. She doesn’t understand the ozonator, so I just do it to keep her happy. Th reality is, I think the ozone technology just gets all the chlorine out of the stare anyways… Chlorine is an impurity, and thats what ozone does right? It purifies the water? I tried explaining this to my wife with no success LOL.
Thanks for explaining that. So, an ozone system is really just water purification. That makes sense. I’m hoping mine is really working…
I didn’t know or think of the ozonator like that! So its really just a water purifier??!!
oxidized water…. really cool stuff!
I googled it. They use ozone at water treatment plants so municipalities can stay away from chlorine. Probably a result of political pressure from environmentalist, etc. Otherwise, they wouldn’t build these systems so advanced and expensive. Hey Alan, Do I know you? You sound like my ex boyfriend. He was an engineer. He was boring
Hi Amanda. No, I don’t know you, and I don’t think I want to.
We are talking about barefoot spas ozonator and the science behind water purification and ozone. A little nerdy? maybe. but things I want to know none the less…
A heated discussion on a hot tub forum. How ironic 🙂
A heated discussion among NERDS apparently! So, what does that make you Joe?
A spectator 🙂
