Barefoot 88LP Spa Review
Barefoot spas vs Artesian

This review will give you a comparison of the comfort level in a Barefoot spa vs Artesian spa. When I started looking at hot tubs I decided I wanted something that focuses more on theraputic benefits. Unlike the hot tub I had a few years ago, with this one, I did not plan to do any entertaining or showing it off really at all. So, that means I wanted something that has a lot of power, and also higher quality all around. What does that mean in terms of price? Lets just put it this way, you get what you pay for.

Like I said, I looked at barefoot spas and also another high end hot tub manufacturer called Artesian. I found pros and cons to both, but I what I want to really talk about in this review the one “x factor” that pushed me over the edge with barefoot spas, and that is the comfort and ergonomics. How did I compare the two comfort levels? Can you tell if a couch is comfortable by just looking at a picture? No, you cant. That’s why comparing these two hot tubs was easy. I got wet! I literally went to both stores and got in the water to try them both out. This took a little more time, but it was worth it! It justified the stretching of my budget which I had to do to go with the barefoot spa.

Quick comparison:
The barefoot spa (88LP model) had a slight edge in the power compared to the Artesian (Dove-Canyon). The jets are very strong, and the different styles of jets and functions of the jets was also unique to the Barefoot spa.

The biggest difference was… you guessed it, the comfort levels. The 88LP model barefoot has a fully reclined lounge seat with large massage jets, foot jets, and arm rests. Along with the lounge, there are several other seats throughout the hot tub that provide therapy in different ways. This is very similar to the layout of the Artesian, but the feel of the lounge in the Barefoot was just simply more comfortable. The arm rests in the lounge of the barefoot not only provided arm support, but it also kept me steady and prevented me from floating out of the seat. The lounge is also a bit deeper in the barefoot which I like becuase I am tall.

Now for a more direct comparison of the Barefoot spa vs Artesian spa. Let’s put it this way, in the Artesian, the lounge was just ok. I felt like I would float or sort of move around in the water uncontrollably; Maybe even float out of the seat from time to time. The jets were also ok, felt great, but not REALLY strong. I rate the Artesian comfort level with 3.5 stars.

In the Barefoot, the comfort level was 5 stars! Completely relaxing, and it feels like the hot tub is contoured perfectly to fit my body type and size. Maybe the barefoot 88LP was just meant for me? It now happily sits on my back patio, and gets almost daily use, so I don’t know if it was meant for me, but I DO know it was meant to be!
